The HISD Academic Calendar is an essential tool for students, parents, and staff. It provides a clear overview of the school year, including important dates such as the first and last day of school, holidays, early release days, and grading periods.

Having the calendar helps families plan ahead for vacations, appointments, and childcare. It also ensures that students don't miss valuable instructional time and helps parents stay informed and engaged with their child’s education.

Attucks Middle School requires students to follow a uniform policy based on grade level:

• 6th Grade: Grey polo shirts

• 7th Grade: Navy polo shirts

• 8th Grade: Red polo shirts

• STEAM Academy: Hunter green polo shirts

Students must wear navy blue, khaki, or black pants, or blue jeans (No rips, holes, or tears), each day. Shorts, dresses, skirts, and joggers are not allowed.

Footwear must be closed-toed shoes. Crocs, slides, and sandals are NOT permitted.

Prepare Required Documents

To enroll, you will need the following:

• Proof of age (birth certificate or passport)

• Proof of residency (utility bill, lease, or mortgage statement)

• Parent/guardian ID

• Immunization records

• Previous school records (if applicable)

House Bill 1481, signed by Governor Abbott on June 20, 2025, introduces a statewide prohibition on students using personal communication devices—such as cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, and similar electronics—during the entire school day, including class time, lunch, and passing periods.
